Final blog of the year!
God wills for YOU to be a saint. Therefore, that's your goal. You will be a saint someday. What kind of saint will you be? What will your holy card look like? What are you wearing? What are you holding in your hands? What's in the background? What's your title? What are you the patron or patroness of? Tell us!
I hope to someday be looked upon as a saint who did her best with what she had, and who always sought to make life an adventure for those around her. I want to be able to use my creative talents to glorify God in any way that I can, and to inspire others to do the same. I think I would like to be the patron saint of imagination and inspiration, two of my favorite concepts. My message would be that we are all capable of creating things to glorify God, - whatever it may be - and that each and every person has the ability to be an inspiration - even if it's only for one person.
ReplyDeleteMy holy card would be a very unique one, because the background would be filled with random spits of imagination: frying pans, eccentric squash, tortoises, French toast, Christmas lights, and a half moon (etc., etc.). But in the midst of all of this would be an image of the One who created all of it, the One who gave us the vastness of our minds. I would probably be holding a paintbrush to relate to my message of imagination and creativeness, and of using our own gifts and talents to create our lives around Jesus. I imagine myself wearing something unconventional, not because I dress that way, but because I like to think that's how my soul is dressed. I'd probably look very colorful.
I'd probably be the type of Saint who people would hear about and laugh at at first. But I think a closer look at me and my message would reveal an undeniable truth - God gave us our own unique aura that we can use to express ourselves and our love for Him while inspiring others to do the same. I think everyone should feel free to embrace the colors inside of them and to use these colors to paint a beautiful portrait of their lives, so that they have a marvelous masterpiece to present to God when their life is over.
I really like this! A patron saint of imagination is a lot of fun! I would like to pray to a saint about that as I get older because I am not as creative as I once was and it is sad. I think you would make a beautiful saint! I love what you said about your clothes that will match what your soul looks like. This blog is very reflective of your personality.
DeleteThis image really suits you. You would be a great Saint, and being the patroness of imagination and creativity really reflects your personality. Your prayer card sounds wonderful, and will probably make whoever sees it smile. I don't think anyone would laugh after hearing about you. There are saints for everything, even a patron saint for the ugly, so your idea isn't far fetched at all.
DeleteI cannot wait to become a Saint! I want to just be called Saint Grace or maybe Saint Grace of Ridgway because that seems like the popular way to name a saint, by their town. Representing Ridgway as a saint would be spectacular.
ReplyDeleteMy prayer card would be really beautiful. I would like it to have some sort of outdoorsy picture, maybe a Winklebauer original. I hope it can somehow incorporate the beach and the normal Elk County landscape in one picture, but if that looks too forced, I just want the Ridgway looking landscape. If they insist on putting me on there, it better be an okay picture of me where I don't look huge and don't have an awkward smile because the prayer card will be out in public . I also want it to be sparkly and contain a lot of glitter that leaks all over so everything that it touches turns sparkly.
In the picture, I would like to be wearing a cute sundress and holding something that has to do with music. A crucifix would be somewhere there too because that is important.
I would be the patron saint of indecisiveness and dancing because I can never make up my mind and I like to dance. People could pray to me about tough decisions and I would help them out and give them obvious signs on what decision they should make because I know how it feels. I hope that when I am a saint, people choose me for their confirmation name. I haven't done anything too spectacular that would make me worthy of being chosen yet, but I'm planning on doing that someday. Also, people could pray to me if they like to dance and have fun, and they can thank God instead of asking him for things all of the time. Maybe I can also take care of girls who can't find dresses for dances or sympathize for girls who make the mistake of ordering them from China.
Being a saint will be fun and I hope I can help people out.
Grace, you will make an awesome patroness of dancing. I also think that your idea for the patron saint of indecisiveness is really cool. I think a lot of people could use some help in that aspect of their life. Having someone to help them make choices would be really nice. I know I could use some help like that every once in a while. Your prayer card sounds really awesome too!
DeleteI hope that you become the patron saint of indecisiveness because then my kids will have someone to pray to when that trait is passed on to them. I'm also incredibly indecisive. I think that your holy card sounds great and I'm sure you won't look huge or awkward. I think you'll be a beautiful Saint. How nice of you to be so compassionate to those who cannot find dresses for dances. A true role model.
DeleteBeing the patron saint of indecisiveness would be awesome. I struggle with indeciveness...like all the time...yes...literally all the time. As I pointed out in Abbey's blog, I'm three months away from going off to college and I haven't even decided what I'm going to study yet. Going back in time a little bit, I couldn't even decide on a college until the very last day possible. Being able to pray to the patron saint of indeciveness might've helped out back then.
DeleteI hope that I am a saint who can inspire people to follow God's will and embrace His love. I wish to be known for my strength during difficult times and my ability to make wise decisions. I think that I would be a good patron saint of impossible struggles, because I have experienced one and could help inspire others through their own. An impossible struggle to me is something that has no reason, but just happens. For me it was losing my hearing. These struggles test our faith, and it's hard to pray to God when you're angry with him or full of questions. It would be easier for people to get through their difficult times if they knew there was a real person on their side, someone who can appeal directly to God for them. I would love to be this figure. I hope that people would me to help them and confide in me.
ReplyDeleteMy prayer card would be comforting. The background would be a light blue that was darker on the edges and almost white in the middle. It would picture me reaching out my hand towards the viewer, ready to pull them out of their darkness into God's light and love. My other hand would hold a lamp, symbolizing my ability to guide someone through a struggle safely. I would be wearing a small golden circlet, symbolizing my triumph over my own darkness. I would be wearing normal clothes to emphasize my human connection to those who need my help.
I think a saint dedicated solely to this cause would help many people. There are saints for impossible causes, but there doesn't seem to be one for impossible struggles. Knowing that someone is watching out for you, not for the end result but for the process, is really comforting.
I love how you said that the process and not the end result is something you could help with. Many people have the end result in mind even though it's God who ultimately knows what will happen. The strength to endure the struggle itself would be great! I can't imagine having something like that happen to me, you are honestly so much stronger than I could ever be! I would definitely pray to you, you are so approachable and great at helping!!!
DeleteI think everyone goes through an "impossible struggle" at some point, no matter how big it is. Some things seems more intense than others, but the truth is that we all struggle sometimes and need some of God's assistance. You'd be great at interceding for those going through struggles, and I wish I had someone like that to pray to back in middle school!
DeleteIf I were to be a saint, I think I would be the patron saint of humor or lost souls. I would like to think I'm a very funny person and I enjoy making other people laugh. I think my sense of humor is one of my best qualities. I could be the patron saint of lost souls because I have experienced and am experiencing this myself. By lost soul, I mean someone who is unsure of their place in the world. I think a lot of people, teenagers especially can relate to this and these people need a saint to represent them.
ReplyDeleteOn my prayer card, I think it would have a lot of muted colors because I really like colors like gray and maroon. I think I could also be shown laughing or smiling. I could also be wearing a pair of jeans with a tshirt or something like that because that is what I normally wear. In my hands I think I would be holding a book or a guitar because I really enjoy reading and I have played guitar my entire life and it is something I am really passionate about. The background could be of a city, possibly New York or Pittsburgh because those are two places I really love. The title of my card could be Saint Abbey. I'm not sure I would put a place that I am from because that might get a little confusing because I live in Kersey.
I definitely don't think I would be a saint who goes off in the wilderness and lives in a cave. I would be the type of saint who works with people. This would work out well especially because I would like to be a doctor and I would have to help and work with other people. I would be a more social type of saint.
I think being the patron saint of lost souls is a really good idea. As you pointed out, teenagers have absolutely no idea what we're even doing. We're just kinda doing our own thing, hoping for the best. But we really haven't etched out our place in the world yet. I know at least I haven't. Heck, I'm going off to college in three months yet I still haven't decided what I'm even going on study. So having a patron saint of lost souls would be great actually.
DeleteI hope to someday be known as the Patron Saint of Zookeepers and Construction workers. I have always loved the zoo, for pretty much my entire life. I always tell people that I want to go to the zoo, but we usually never end up going. But then one day, it actually happened. I made the trip to the zoo and it was wonderful. But I realized that somebody has got to feed the Tigers and lions. That seems like that would be extremely dangerous. So the zookeepers who put their lives on the line need some heavenly protection, and I want to be the Saint that they pray to when they are in need. Also construction workers are literally the people that build our society. But again, the guys who were working near the top of the Burj Khalifa could've fallen and died. Why did they do it though? They did it to further our society and reach for the heavens. I also want to be the Saint that they pray to when they need help.
ReplyDeleteIn the background of my holy card, the happiest place on earth will be visible. What is the happiest place on earth you ask? The Pittsburgh Zoo of course. What else could it be? Also, there will be multiple construction sites visible. It'll be a really grand and epic scene behind me. I think I will be wearing a hard hat and a Pittsburgh Zoo employee tshirt. In one hand, I'll be holding a hammer. In my other hand, I'll be holding a dolphin plush animal. At the very top of the card in fancy writing will be written "Saint Gizzy, Patron Saint of Zookeepers and Construction Workers."
I don't know what people will think of me when they hear about me. They'll probably be like, "Wow, this Saint is super lame. He's not even the patron saint of anything important." But I think they're wrong. I think when people take time to think about it, they'll realize that I am the patron saint of important groups of people. Zookeepers keep the zoo running smoothly. And construction workers are what build...everything. These people need a Saint to look out for them, and I plan on being that saint.
Gizzy, I think this is really unique. It definitely shows your quirkiness and individuality. I think zookeepers is something really different and definitely isn't represented by many other saints. It's kind of like Saint Francis, the patron saint of animals.
